That Which Drips Crimson

(A r/talesfromthecreeps Poetry Submission)

Gurgling

in my throat

makes me turn

An apex predator

who can't stand

his own slaughter

I had to

I'm no killer

Four

against freezing ruin

One

to outlive them all

As I swallow down

my fellow men

No, no-

roast beast

I knock back

another dose

metallic red high

It's not enough

What's one more

Hunger says

and flicks His silver tongue

One more and I'll be sated

Though

three men

left near polished bones

I know what I must do

That which drips crimson

trickles along my knife's edge

scalp sashimi, thigh tartare

a once in a lifetime meal

Hunger sits

across the aisle

His golden eyes meet mine

sweet release, cyanide smile

I gaze into infinity

raging tempests of gluttony

He's delivered me

from evil

As the whiteout presses on

I step back from

the Age of Bronze

I made my choice

Four men to none

Hunger, unbound

ravenous, unwieldy

Three lost, one found
